I have got an old guitar that I have been tinkering with but now I want to buy a better guitar and learn to play properly. I would like to have private guitar lessons but they are too expensive so I want to try online guitar lessons.

I’ve seen two courses Jamorama and Learn and Master Guitar. Firstly are these kinds of online learning courses any good, are they really a substitute for a guitar teacher and secondly which of the above courses is the best learning courses for a beginner, Learn and Master Guitar is more expensive than the Jamorama program but it uses guitar instruction DVDs which I prefer.

Well first of all, the two programs you mention are very respected online learning courses. Jamorama uses video files on your computer and Learn and Master Guitar uses instruction DVDs as you have already mentioned.

These online learning courses are very good at teaching beginners to play the guitar but you have to do your bit and practice. Even if you went to a guitar teacher you would have to practice. These guitar courses are designed by professional guitarist and teachers and are of the very highest quality both in presentation and tuition and the reason both these courses are so respected is that they guarantee you will learn to play the guitar or they will give you your money back.

Learn and Master Guitar DVD course is more expensive than the Jamorama download version but it’s cheaper than the Jamorama hard copy. My preference would be the Learn and Master course because it’s a bigger learning course and it uses DVD lessons.

The choice is yours, but remember, as good as these courses are, you have to practice and if you do the work, you will most definitely learn to play the guitar.
