Finding time to relax and pursue hobbies in our fast-paced world is becoming a thing of the past. There’s just too much to do. If you want to learn to play the piano, you are going to need some time to yourself. Traditionally, students will visit a teacher once a week and between lessons practice what the teacher has set. This kind of learning is of course very effective, but requires a lifestyle choice and a strict timetable.
As a teacher myself, I have found that many of my adult students just cannot commit to a weekly piano lesson, its virtually impossible because or work or family commitments and the problem is always, time, or lack of it.
So it seems to me, if we can sort the time problem out then you can pursue virtually anything including learning to play the piano. The answer to this tricky time problem is the use of software, specifically piano learning software. Many of these courses come bundled with video and audio where the teacher will show you how to play, using step-by-step lessons. In fact, it’s very much the same as a real teacher, except, when you don’t have time for your lesson; your software teacher will wait, for as long as it takes, and when you’re ready, you can continue from exactly the same place.
This seems to me to be an ideal compromise, because you can learn in your own time and not a piano teacher’s time and because the time constraints have now been removed, you can learn, as slow or as fast as your time allows, it’s brilliant.
