A great beginner’s keyboard, very good value, good tone, with enough features to keep you amused while you learn the basic stuff. Definitely good enough for school music lessons and to accompany beginner singers for voice pitching. Arrived rapidly in fine condition with mains adaptor also.

This keyboard is good value for money if you can get it for under £120. I don’t play that well but got it to amuse myself. I will probably never use 80% of the voices – the accordions are good. Some of the pre recorded style endings are rather over the top. My main gripe is the fact that the headphone socket is on the back, I have to feed the headphone cable through the music stand as it pulls too tight if it goes round the side. I had a Yamaha keyboard 20 years ago & the socket was at the front which wasa much better. Don’t get carried away by the Yamaha Education Suite. I am able to read music & I find it impossible to use because only one note appears at a time & you can’t look even one bar ahead. In the instruction book it says that you can get a song book with scores for all the internal songs by completing the user registration. I registered on the website but could see no mention of the songbook.

The keyboard itself is well made -good sound through the in-built speakers and is ideal for learning on.

The fun aspects are: sound effects, choirs, voices etc and are very amusing for entertaining small children.

Reason for purchase? Pressie for Teacher of small children.

The only stand that fits is Yamahas own LC2, expensive -but it screws on and is very stable, unlike the X stands that don’t actually fit.

Now the bad news -the 1st box arrived wide open and unsealed, contents in disarray and grubby. Amazon replaced it -then had to be told off for not delivering the ‘paid for next day’ changing it mid-day to 5 days later. No, express delivery means express and ‘Prime’ means Prime.

They did and the 2nd keyboard arrived a day late completely un-sealed and with a big hole in the back.

Both boxes had been opened with a Stanley knife, thus damaging the box with a big slice, all big copper staples had been removed, some (poor)attempt had been made to badly re-seal the 2nd box at 2 points.

Who and why did this? Amazon have no idea -but they did refund some funds to make up for it – just complain loudly and the damage on the couriers receipt when you sign for it -that gives you a claim against the carrier too.

This is a great keyboard for the money.

Music stands are the same on all keyboards – suggest using blue tack to hold sheets in place!

I’m delighted with this keyboard, I think it is a great entry-level piece of equipment. Maybe in a year or two I’ll be ready for something bigger and better, but this is just great for now. If like me you’re an adult looking to take up piano again, this is a good place to start – it sounds great, it feels sturdy enough and it’s packed with features

Sound quality – the default grand piano sound is excellent, there are lots of other good sounds I like (esp. the funky ep), but I tend to stick to this most of the time

Touch sensitive keys – this is essential (don’t consider a keyboard without this feature). The key action is fairly light compared to a real piano – you may find you are not hitting the keys hard enough if you switch instruments.

Adaptor – contrary to what one reviewer wrote, the keyboard does come with a power adaptor

Note that the keyboard has 61 keys, which makes it smaller than a standard piano. In practice I’ve found I’m able to play almost all pieces, with just a few really low notes unobtainable. This also means that the keyboard is fairly compact – helps if you don’t have much space!

Song book – my only disappointment is that the keyboard doesn’t come with a song book, without which the ‘learning system’ is practically useless. But if you register the product with yamaha online, you can get a pdf version and print that(I had to write to customer services to make this happen). With the song book, the learning system is great.

Other great features – I use the built-in metronome a lot, I also like the ability to record each hand separately – so you can lay down the left hand and then practise the right, for example.

Good keyboard this. I am pleased with this. Nice sounds and is touch sensitive. Each of the buttons double or even treble-up to give multiple options.

MIDI cable I got elsewhere not the official Yamaha one as that is too expensive.

Had to lose our ‘real’ and much loved piano due to lack of space but this keyboard is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Sound quality is superb as a piano and all the other sounds add interest for the children. Don’t be fooled – this is a serious musical instrument. Great to be able to record RH and concentrate on LH when developing a piece, metronome useful. Only 61 keys not 88 but this shouldn’t bother you – transpose 12 semitones to give access to a lower octave for The Moonlight, for example. Really easy and intuitive to use.

Don’t buy a cheap stand, they all wobble and who needs to vary the height? Go for the Yamaha LC2.

Very good keyboard. Has got everything you need, for pros, and beginners.

Big collection of excellent sounds. Volume can be turned up loud as well.

Adapter, sheet stand included as well. Buy now with the keyboard stand because the stand is very good as well. All for £120!!!!

We bought this to replace a cheap keyboard that we had outgrown. The sound quality is good, the samples are realistic and sounds much more like the real thing. The touch sensitive keyboard also allows you to play it like a real piano. In short, it sounds great and is good value. If you are planning on playing it regularly, you will need to buy an adapter. Probably should have given it 5 stars, but don’t want to get too excited! Afterall, its not a guitar.

My son has specific learning difficulties and other problems. This was bought by him through me. He is over the moon with it and I have never seen anyone so excited and motivated by something. I know this isn’t helpful for others but it is an excellent keyboard – I have the 88 key version which is brilliant. If he finds it relatively easy to use then this is suitable for anyone.
